Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is an immigration designation for certain people who came to the U.S. as children. It does not provide lawful status. However, an applicant who is eligible for DACA may be allowed to remain in the U.S. for a period of two years and be granted work authorization. This two-year period can be renewed as long as the DACA program remains in effect.
